A review by
DeadNuns deadnuns@nightmareonchatstreet.com The movie takes place in a small town in Texas. Melanie (Leah Pipes) recently released from a Drug Rehab Center. Finds out that her family has relocated to the Town of Emarald, in her absence. While on their way to the New House, Melanie's sister Crystal (Kristin Cavallari) tells her about the Towns Local Legend. This legend goes back to 1957, when a school bus, returning home from Camp, full of Singing, Happy Children, are just getting to the City Limits and are run down by a Train on a Dark, Stormy, Night. Killing all aboard
The rumor is, that if you park your car across the train tracks, put it into neutral and wait. The spirits of the dead children will push your car through the tracks and out of Harms Way. While Melanie and Crystal are waiting for this to happen. Melanie sees the Ghostly Image of a Young Girl. Which gets her to thinking........"Theres more her than meets the Eye".
How do Local Legends get started? And why are some of them so Long Lived? This Legend was born out of a Hideous Crime, that the Whole Town is covering up. And Melanie, with the inadvertent help of the Town Drunk (Geoffrey Lewis) who as it happens, was the Mayor of the Town at the time. Starts to dig away at the mystery, until she Uproots the Evil-Doer who is responsible for all those deaths in the Past. And the new ones that are starting to happen now.
This was a good movie. The Cast were all believable in their roles. And the acting was well done. The Story was well written. Just enough twists and turns to keep you wondering what was going to happen, without completely loosing you in the process. The only part I didn't like, was at the very end, which takes a really good story, and sets it up for what will probably be a really crappy sequel.
This one gets a Thumb Up.
This movie is loosely based on the legend of the `Railroad Crossing Ghosts`. You can read the full story at GhostHauntings.Org
