There is something very wrong in the small town of Gatlin. Adults are being brutally murdered by their own children. Children who have become part of a Dangerous Cult. Their Leader, a very Mean and Deadly Evil boy, named Isaac (John Franklin)
Burton (Peter Horton) and his girlfriend Vicky (Linda Hamilton) are out for a leisurely drive, when they come across the corpse of a child laying out in the middle of the road. Without knowing the horror that awaits them, they load the body and head into Gatlin to try to find some help. What they find however, is a Nightmare beyond any they could have imagined. Help doesn't exist in Gatlin anymore.
All that the small town has to offer these days are Isaac, his equally Evil Lieutenant Malachai (Courtney Gains) and a Crazed bunch of Murderous Children. Burton and Vicky find themselves on their own. And the odds of their survival are heavily stacked against them.
I have noted before, that i don't really like most Stephen King movies. Either the books don't translate well to the screen. Or the directors just can't get a good grip of what is going on in the books. For what ever reason. The movies leave me somewhat disappointed. This one works pretty well though. I actually liked the movie better than the book. A first for me. It may not be the best movie I have ever seen. But its worth a watch. For the most part, the acting is good. John Franklin was born to play the part of Isaac. This kid is eerie looking. And Courtney Gains does an above average job of doing Isaac's bidding. There are some very intense moments in this movie. That made me wonder," how and the hell did this sleepy little town produce so much evil in its young ones".
Pretty well done I give it a 7 out of 10. Click here to watch the movie now DeadNuns is a columnist/critic for NOCS and can be reached by email at deadnuns@nightmareonchatstreet.com
