Well this is our fourth part in the Series 8 Films to Die For, From the After Dark Horrorfest. This one damn near killed me. The Tagline from this film is: Beneath the Calmest Surfaces lies the Deepest Nightmare. This Nightmare however, is a Big Steamy Pile Of Shit!! I once said that Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was the worst movie I had ever seen. Well move over Tomatoes, theres a new worst in town.
This one starts off with the shooting death of an old man. Who just happens to be the Grandfather, of the 3 girls this movie is centered around. None of which even knew of the existence of Ole' Gramps. 2 sisters (Kelsey Crane, Kelsey Weeden) and a half sister (Tara Gerard) Hear about the death and that they have inherited the Family Business, The Lake Hotel. While being told by their father(knowing some of of the Lake Family secrets) Don't go anywhere near the hotel. The girls decide, as young ladies usually do in this type of movie. That dear old dad doesn't know what he's talking about. And head off to the hotel with boyfriends in hand.
Thats where anything that makes any sense at all in this movie ends. From this point on it was just painful to make myself watch this movie. Poor Writing, Poor Acting, Poor Plot............ I know you don't know us, but come and get your Hotel, girls. And Oh Yeah, you have to survive the advances of your Inbred Uncle (James C. Burns) and Mutant Cousins so they can keep the Family Bloodline Pure. Give me a break. There was a little more to it than that. But not much.
The worst part of this movie, is that they set it up for a Lake Dead 2. This one was bad enough. I can't even imagine how bad the second one would be. This one gets a Thumb Down.
The next two movies to be reviewed in our series will be, The Deaths of Ian Stone. Where Evil never leaves you alone. Not even when you're dead. And Mulberry Street. In this one the Town really has gone to the Rats.
